Its been a mixed day today, its our Major project day today, where we normally have 1 lecture at 9 - 10 am, then an hour of project, then an hour project meeting with supervisors, then the rest of the day doing project work, usually intrrupted by another research lecture. Thats what usually happens.
Today we had our lecture, then we had an hour doing our Risk assement, hour of Project meeting with supervisors, and hour doing some work, an 1 and 1/2 hours lecture about project risks, 15 minuites befor another 2 hour research lecture, then then labs are closed.... So when do we actually get to do our project anyone?
It ended up me deciding not to attend the final research lecture, and instead work on moving my circuit to breadboard for testing. But that didn't go exactly as planned. My PIC's kept getting burning hot, so I immediatly turned the power supply off, trying to work out why, every connect to the power supply was checked, everything to the debugger, everything, couldn't find any reason so I took it all part and tried again, using a different PIC as well, still the same problem. Grrr
So I ended up at the very last minute using a PIC Millenium Development board. And everyting worked... grrr.
So here I am, at my sweet GF house, with the circuit built again, with all the peripherals attached. Just got to wait until tomorrow to test it.
Currently listening to War of the Worlds, The remastered version, and absolutly loving it!
Absolutly loads has happened since my last post, from actually starting university, to almost finishing the first term!
The Rollercoaster Appreciation Society has been alot more active this year, with 3 main trips to theme parks 1 social and another main event still to come before term is out! The committe have been wonderful this year, being so much help and adding so much to the society as a whole, its been a fantastic experience just being part of it, let alone running it!
My major project has been making slow progress, but now i'm at the testing my code is doing what it should on my microprocessor, getting the correct frequencies at the correct voltage.
Thought it was about time that I started ranting, like most people these days, online. This must be the 4th iteration of my blog, starting from a very static website to this, fully dynamic and content managment system based site.
I've been working on various website for people, redesiging and producing the Caxton Theatre Website, updating and tweaking the Roller Coaster Society Website, and of course, this site.
I've finally learn't enough to make decent templates for sites, So this website will once again be fully redeveloped, but at least I don't have to go over making all the content again woohoo!
I've been out on my motorcycle again today, been on it 3 times since I finished it and have had no problems. Its a really easy bike to ride, does what you tell it to, rolls round corners beautifully and is very forgiving, since I'm a bit rusty (2 years waiting for my 33bhp restriction to end).
Been learning to drive a car this summer, failed my test on friday, 4 minors and 3 fails... *grr*, but it just means I need a little more time to get used to it. A motorcycle is much more enjoyable to ride, its just that free feeling. And having one that allows you to actually lean round corners is even better!
I'm heading off back to university in a week, i'm curious to what this year will bring as the past two years have certainly been very different. Bit nervouse about it as well, since i'll be taking my motorcycle down with me (or should I say, it will be taking me down with it). Never done such a long journey on my own, but nows the time to learn.
I've selected to do USB as one of my modules for this year, I'm really looking forward to it as it means i'll be able to do alot of the projects i've been dying to achive. Like home automation and and my virtual reality experience hardware.
I've started getting really bored at home, now my bike is finished and the fact I have no friends up here any more (thats a lie, I have a few but don't see them often) and it really mkaes you feel lonley. That why I like Reading so much because all my friends are there, and in walking distance.
